TEMPERATURE RANGE ELECTRIC – The electric actuators offered by Colonial Engineering have temperature range of –40 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. For temperatures below 0 degrees Fahrenheit the option of a heater is recommended. All electric actuators used outdoors are recommended to have the heater option installed because temperature fluctuations can cause the build up of condensation in the housing. This condensation could cause corrosion and premature failure of the actuator. PNEUMATIC- The stock pneumatic actuator offered by Colonial Engineering has a standard temperature range of –31 to 230 degrees Fahrenheit. With optional O-rings and seals the low temperature range is –58 degrees Fahrenheit, and a high temperature range to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Quality of air supply should always be considered. At low temperature ranges moisture in the air lines will produce condensation, this can cause freezing or blocking of the lines or even damage the actuator. * Optional accessories such as limit switches, solenoid valves etc. need to be checked for temperature range also.
