ENCLOSURES

ELECTRIC – Electric actuator housings have a NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association) rating. The stock electric actuators (IndelacTM) offered by Colonial have a NEMA rating of IV. Other NEMA ratings are optional, below is a list of the NEMA ratings that are offered and a brief definition each.

NEMA IV - Watertight and dust-tight – Indoor and Outdoor. Protects against windblown dust and rain, splashing water and hose-directed water.

NEMA IV X - Same as NEMA IV except also corrosion resistant.

NEMA VII - Indoor hazardous locations.

All stock electric actuators (IndelacTM) offered by Colonial have a thermally bonded polyester powder coating to enhance the appearance and add a hard, tough corrosion resistant coating.

PNEUMATIC – Pneumatic actuators are inherently explosion proof; and generally are the most cost-effective alternative for application in hazardous locations.
