DUTY CYCLE

Duty cycle is the amount of time an actuator can run in relation to the amount of time it needs to rest. This is to prevent the motor from overheating. A 25% duty cycle means that for every second the motor is working it will need to rest 3 seconds.

ELECTRIC – The stock electric actuators offered by Colonial (IndelacTM) have duty cycles as indicated below:

PNEUMATIC- All stock pneumatic actuators offered by Colonial have a 100% duty cycle.

Note:  Since most on/off actuated valves are idle 95% of the time duty cycle is often not an issue.

Colonial Engineering has many other available options. The above information is meant to be a brief description of the standard actuators offered by Colonial Engineering. If you have requirements that are not listed above or have any other questions, please contact us.
